These are often referred to as "Hobbs" meters. Although, Hobbs is the name of
one of the manufacturers of these meters. Kind of like a crescent wrench or
thermos bottle.
I have heard the term "proof" meter, as well as "hour" meter.
Sometimes the reading is referred to as "tach time".
