I finally found time to check my Ferguson Plow manual for information on
"clipped wing" plow shares. Following is the entire paragraph:

"When operating in extremely rocky soils or in soil conditions where
penetration is difficult, it may be helpful to use clipped wing shares.
These are available from your Ferguson dealer. See Figs. 58 and 59 for
examples of clipped wing shares together with their standard counterparts"

The photos show shares that have been shortened and cut diagonally, so that
the ends are nearly parallel, rather than at about a 90 degree angle.

Hope this sheds some light on the situation, Dean.

spring!)
