Dave, I would suggest trying to repair it. If you are right, welding it is
not at all difficult to have done and building up jouranls by welding on a
crank like that is nearly always successful if done by a specialist. The
cost is likely to be a couple of hundred and then you get a fully built up
crank journal.... I would take my chances.
