[AT] Rationale for firing orders

Buick (GM) engineers had to redesign the crank and cam for the 231
(3.8L) V6 to reduce the vibration caused by the old design, which was
a V8 with two cylinders removed. It was originally designed for the GMC
pickups back in the early 60's. I have one of the last odd fire versions
in a '76 Buick Skylark (looks like a Chevy Nova) sitting in my carport
right now. It's waiting for me to find a round tuit to replace the timing set
so I can sell it and make room for another tractor or two. Has a regular
V8 GM HEI distributor on it. Just two empty spark plug holes!
