[AT] Rationale for firing orders

I didn't mean to sound like an ingrate.  It's just that as always I am
dazzled by 1) how much there is to know, 2) how much of it one can find at
this site, and 3) how little I know about how little I know!  I have found
this whole thread fascinating, even the parts I didn't understand.  A real
seminar...
