DSL=Digital Subscriber Line -A small filter is installed in the line to the
phone to remove high frequency noise from the voice transmission. There was
at one time talk of using the power lines to bring high speed internet
connections to the masses.

O.K. Charlie. Guess I learned somthing. I think DSL stands for direct sat.
link. I always associated broadband with a cable hookup because that is how
road runner is usually referred to. I guess I have a TV commercial
mentality. At any rate, the abliity of the phone company equipment to
seperate the voice transmission from the data transmission has always been a
little awesome to me. I have to visualize they are at different signal
width, sorta like an AM radio station VS. and FM station so the equipment on
the other end can seperate them. This is one of the cases where the less I
say, the less people will realize how little I know about the subject, but I
still like the way it works.

Have a good night.
