Al!

I must compliment you on the way you've handled this thread. A
discussion is one thing, but this thread basically turned into an
attack of teachers. I have kids in public and private schools. My
son just finished 7th grade in the public schools and my youngest
daughter just finished her freshman year in a private high school.
My oldest daughter just finished her sophomore year in a private
college. I've spent a LOT of time in the classroom as a parent.
I've gone on a lot of field trips. Helped put together classroom
parties as a *room parent*. I've loved every minute of it. Yes,
there are a few teachers that I thought were not on the ball and
probably should have chosen a different profession. But for the
most part these are all dedicated professionals that just want to
make a difference in a child's life. Yes, the administration gets in
the way, but most of the good teachers can deal with that and still
give a quality education. Some can't. I chose a private college
prep high school for my kids because the public high school is just
too large. 4000 kids! That's not a school, that's a small village!
It's just too easy for kids to *fall through the cracks* and not get
a good quality education.

BTW... some of you bashing the teachers should *proof read* your
letters before you send them. Or didn't they teach that when you
went to school?!?! ;)
