Ted,
Serial #FAA-52089 is a 1941 Farmall "A".  The correct Harvester Red paint 
is available from many, many different sources, and I would agree with John 
Paur that the same amount of work goes into the paint job, regardless of 
which color you choose.  You seem to want to keep this tractor and have it 
as a part of your outfit there on the farm. If so, then I believe it 
deserves to keep it's originality.  I would also agree with others that a 
good 6 volt system with proper grounding will start and run that tractor 
just fine. The only advantage I could ever see with a 12 volt system is if 
you use the tractor at night alot and needed the brighter, 12volt head lamps.
