I found it equally important to check the manufacturer's sites for
drivers that are compatible with Windows XP.  The original manufacturer
has a vested interest in making his product work for you.  Microsoft
doesn't.

I agree with Mike. Dump ME. It was the biggest piece of crap ever
foisted
on the computing public by Microsoft. Step back to Win98SE or upgrade to
Win2k or XP Pro. Stay away from XP Home. You will need new drivers for
Win2k or XP, and if you decide to go with XP, go to Microsoft's site and
check every piece of your hardware against their XP Compatibility List.
I had to replace a video card in a H-P system for a friend that upgraded
her system from ME to XP Pro. It worked, but the video looked like crap.
The card wasn't on the compatibility list.
