John,
I know of an 884 that has 16 hours on it. It is still at the dealer.
Stubborn ol' German won't discount the price. LOL

Subject: [Farmall] Brand new IH 140---saw it with my own eyes

A couple years ago Al Jones asked me about a rumored 140 that was bought and
placed in a building never to be used. It was built the last year IH made
them. A salvage yard was said to own it. Well yesterday found me at the
salvage yard getting some suicase weights for my no-till drill. The weights
were outside beside an industrial 140. I commented that you just don't see
many of those tractors. then I remembered about the rumored new 140 so I
asked about it. The fellow said yes they still had it. Then he said "Want to
go see it?". Of course I replied yes so we walked over to a small building
and went inside. Nestled back beside an old Mustang sits a 140 with less
than 5 hours on it. It has Never done any work. It has the cultivator and
fast hitch on it but no sweeps or shanks have ever been installed. The owner
said they bought in 1980 if he remembered correctly. It looks great with no
rust. some of the paint is flaking off the air cleaner pipe but otherwise
nothing major that I could see wrong in a quick inspection. I notced that
the front wheel lug bolts were not painted. There was also no paint on the
oil filter, plug wires, or distributor cap. There is even a tag tied with
wire to the cultivator with the part number on it. I did notice that the
steering box has sweated grease. We got a chuckle when I mentioned that even
the new ones leak grease. It has been about 10 years or more since it was
last run. He has been approached about selling it but the answer is no.
Can't say that I blame him.
