Regarding oil and weights, I found amsoil's website to be fairly
imformative on this point even though I don't use their products ( I
hate tier marketing).  5W-30 oil is usually specified in 4 cylinder
vehicles, but not for the reasons I always thought.  The lighter weight
oil simply has slightly less drag to it than, say, 10W30.  And the
smaller engines with higher rpms, take advantage of that lower drag on
every rpm to slightly increase their CAFE/mileage ratings.  Ford even
tried this trick in their F-150 4.6L V-8's by specifying 5W-20 oil in
2002 whereas their exact same 2001 trucks have 5W-30 specified for
them.  In non-freezing temps, you should be well covered by any
multi-viscosity oil, just change it often.
