[AT] Volvo/Mercedes + mostly OT rambling

Mattias,

I'm not much for engine transplants in tractors, but that combination sounds
like a good one to me.  I rebuilt the engine in our last Mercedes diesel and
only drove it a few thousand miles before the body needed serious cosmetic
work.  I was planning to use it in a tractor if I found the right one.  It
was a 240-D.  It was my plan to use the neat little compact 4 speed
automatic with it.

Much earlier, I abandoned a project to mount a 190-DC engine in a first year
Ford Bronco because there wasn't enough height under the hood to clear the
front axle.

All but one of the Mercedes are long gone but I still have all the special
tooling I made to work on them.  I still have my pride and joy... a 450 SLC
that I've had for 20 years.
