[AT] Diesel Starting Safety Reminder

I have not ever seen this reminder on the list. We have a 1995 Agco-Allis
5670 diesel and I was wondering if it would roll start with the key switch
in the off position. I tried it today and the answer is yes! It has a pull
knob to stop the engine. If that knob is not pulled out , and you accidently
depress the clutch and let it out while the tractor is rolling it will start
very easy. Sometimes we stop the engine on the tractor on a hill (to get off
and hook a chain to a log, etc.). This could be a real unsafe condition if
the engine decides to turn over a couple of revolutions. Also if a child was
to climb into the seat and pushed in the clutch pedal.

I would think that there are other models and makes that will do the same
thing.

This tractor has a parking brake, but we are not in the habit of using it(
hard to release it with the large stomachs and stiff muscles that my Dad
and I have.

An Antique tractor with a magneto that doesn't have a kill switch could also
do this.

Dad and I talked at length about this today and both of us are sure that we
will take the necessary precautions in the future.

Thanks,
