[AT] AT] Just testing/ Snow

Ralph, I have been watching the progress of the storm on the
weather channel. Looks like you will be busy for a while. Hope
you can get the machinery lined up in the proper order for the
work.
Have you checked the air cleaner for water on the "40"? I
have had them collect water and then freeze, making for a rich
mixture. My DC-4 is so bad about getting water in the housing
that I put a radiator drain in the bottom to drain off the
water.
Our 10 day forecast looks like warm weather will melt all
our snow.
The snow blower is the way to go for sure. I have actually
cleared about 2/3 of my airstrip with the Case 222 and 38 inch
snowblower. I calculate I have moved about 150,000 cubic feet of
snow just on the strip. Have run about 15 gallons of gas and
about a quart of oil through the 12 horse Kohler.
Had a nice lane cleared between the shop and barn 2 days
ago, but the snow from the south side of the barn roof slid off
and I now have a 5 foot drift the full length of the barn. Guess
I will let it melt now.
Hope you can keep up with the clearing. You have the tools
to work with for sure

                        Gene

:
: Gene, theres going to be plenty of exercise for tractors and
shovels here
: after today. We are having a major winter storm with no travel
recommended
: on highways. Visibility here in the yard ranges up to a
quarter mile at
: times but its pretty sheltered too.
: My main snowblower tractor, the Cockshutt 40 is unusable as of
two days ago
: when it developed a carburetor problem so its in the workshop
waiting for me
: to figure out the problem. The 730 Case diesel has the little
7 foot blade
: and its ready to go but right now its blocked in the shed by
the Cockshutt
: 50 in the process of an oil change and other maintenance.
Massey 90 and
: front end loader is similarly blocked in. The only option
right now is the
: 2090 Case with the 8 foot blade but I don't like piling up a
lot of snow
: this early in the winter as it only creates a snow trap for
the next
: blizzard.
: Guess I better get off to work and get the wheels in motion so
that when the
: snow finally stops I will be able to make a clearing. Way too
much to
: shovel.
