If you have the serial # it would be easier as the  changes are listed by 
serial #. Well here goes;
serial #35309-130699,187102- use Wico "X"
serial #35309-187101 use Edison-Splitdorf "CD"
Serial # 30400-130699 use 246-C
serial # 152708-155999 use "C"

Anyone know what model an original wyco mag was on JD D's?
I'm contemplating getting an early steel wheeled one around 29 or 30 model. 
There's one on ebay I'm watching.
