The 1947 Oliver 88 came standard with an independant/live PTO. The
Cockshutt 30 came with either the four speed transmission and the
independant PTO, or the eight speed transmission and a regular
standard/non-independant PTO. The Cockshutt 30 was tested before the Oliver
at the Nebraska Tests. As a result, it sometimes is claimed that they were
first.

The Oliver offered a choice of a mechanical lift, live hydraulics (both
mounted in the same position under the dash/on top of the transmission) or
a plain cover. Hart Parr actually offered an independant PTO on the 18-36
in the late 1920's.

Take care,
Allen Pruehs
