[AT] Early 9N Ford--steering gear question

OK, I took the top of the steering gear cover off--dash and all--to where I 
can look right down into the transmission.  So how do the steering sectors 
and the steering shaft bearings get lubrication??  There aren't any grease 
fittings anywhere--at least on this old '41 model.  Do the transmission 
gears just throw enough lube up to do the job?     John W.
