Here in PA they have been trying to get gambling in to lower the school 
tax burden across the state. I'm not really in favor of setting up such 
a system of a sin tax. Here they give farm owners a break on the 
property taxes, but with the growth in the area, the rates are bound to 
go up. The township I'm in just raised the property tax rate for the 
first time in 14 years because they say they want to have a police 
officer on duty 24 hours a day. Now, after 5pm all calls go to the state 
police. They also want a SUV for the police department. Those sorts of 
things are not a big deal, but if the population continues to grow the 
big ticket items are when they need to build new schools. That costs big 
bucks...
