Ken, I refinished the black dash on my 830. I first used John Deere
semi-gloss enamel, It took two days to dry, and when anything touched it
much later, it showed. I then used black gloss lacquer from a spray can,
put on several coats, then hand rubbed with rubbing compound. The result
is a gloss black that does not show fingerprints and always looks good.
The factory used a semi-gloss black, but I vote gloss. The best,
 John D.

I have a number of reference photo's but they show different finishes, some are a gloss black, some are a flat black and others semi-gloss black. Does anyone know what the dash panels were painted when the tractors were shipped from the factory???
