John- Years ago I bought a GP and along with it came a
tractor mounted buzz saw that bolted to the front
frame of the tractor and was driven by the belt
pulley. My Dad appropriated it, narrowed it down, and
mounted it on an unstyled B. In many ways it was
easier to use than a normal buzz saw because you could
easily move it to where you wanted to cut the wood and
you never had to line up and back into the belt before
you could use it. It had an idler pulley to take up
the slack and keep the belt tight. My Dad loved to use
it out in my walnut orchard to cut limbs into firewood
lengths, but it scared me to death just watching him.
I preferred to use a chainsaw myself-much safer and
faster. After his death, I took the saw off the
tractor and retired it. It is still stored out in the
barn. It is a well made unit, with several cast
pieces, but I could never figure out who manufactured
it.
