[Ford-ferguson] converting to electronic ignition

While the work itself isn't too difficult.. you would also want to go to a
12v system.  There ARE 6v kits.. but they get flaky at 4v.. and that is
right about where your starter pulls battery voltage down to when cranking.
On another list I'm on, if you have a rebuilt starter, new battery, rebuilt
generator, brand new wire harness, and big cables, new solenoid, and key
switch, you can get by with the 6v kit.  Once you get a bit of wear on the
parts.. starting problems ( no spark ) start to occour.

Thos kits run about a hundred bucks.  You can by an awfull lot of points for
that.  As long as you keep your electrical connections clean, points aren't
a problem.. many people get multiple years on a set, even without
adjustment.

For what it's worth.. I believe changing points in the front mount units is
easier than the sidemounts...
