Before you go to XP, you will need to check all of the parts of the system
against the Windows XP compatibility list. It is at Microsoft.com. A lot
of older hardware is not capable of supporting XP. One thing you will need
is
AT LEAST 256Mb of RAM. Otherwise, the performance will suffer pretty
dramatically.
