[AT] Two Allis Chalmers U's

Charlie,

I don't know how long those tractors have been out there in the
elements, but I think at least 20 or 30 years. They are rather well
preserved arent they? Perhaps having all those trees and shrubs so tightly
packed around them helps some. The air does tend to be quite dry up here
for most of the year, although every other tractor I have worked on has had
little or no paint left on it at all so who knows. I don't know if the
weather up here qualifies as "severe", although it does get rather cold
during the winter months, which sometimes causes problems with water
freezing in blocks, rads, and gear-boxes. I'll bet the state of the
tractors is more due to being shaded from the sunlight than anything else.
Also, I think AC used some pretty good paint too. Maybe Mother Nature is
into AC's - she does seem to give em' a bit of a break. :-)
