Sounds like a normal older working trans to me? shifting on the fly takes
some real hand eye ear cordination, wait till you go through all 6 gears on
the BNH, taking off in 6th will work the clutch out real good, so practice
that 4 -5- 6 shifting so you can get that parade tractor to the parade. Its
up on the throttle, then down on the throttle, back on the clutch lever,
shift to 5 and then up on the clutch and throttle, then down on the
throttle, back on the clutch , shift to 6 and all over again. that grinding
noise and clunk clunk clunk as you hit 6 and up on the throttle putt putt
putt and then away you go.

Yeah, I know its difficult but I think what I'm hearing is normal, a very
low
rumble or whine and its not ready a whine. Nothing that can be heard
unless you are sitting on the tractor.

Shifts good, nothing high pitched or no clunks. It doesn't really grind
unless to
try and shift while moving which I think is normal. I don't think you are
suppose
to shift on the fly but I could be wrong.

I'll drain and flush it today. I went to the Automotive store for Gear oil
and they only
had quarts and nothing heavier than SAE80. I think I need SAE 90.
