[AT] OT Craftsman Compressor

Thanks, Jim. My compressor is in the group that's listed.

I was at Rural King this afternoon getting a refund on an air filter I
mistakenly bought when a couple guys brought a brand new compressor back
for a refund. It was wired for 120 volts, but had a power draw of 40
amps! The guy didn't have single outlet in his house rated above 20
amps. The instruction manual said it had to be connected to a 50 amp
circuit, but it didn't have the right shape of plug on the end of the
cord for that size circuit. Weird!

Ralph, I looked at the new "6 hp" compressor/vertical tank units
at
Tractor Supply a couple years ago and wondered where they got the six
horses
from. I think someone had his slide rule turned backwards when they did
the
figuring on that one. grins. They sure look nice with that big tank and
all
and hold a lot of air but I also really doubt the horsepower of them.

I also have a tank mounted Kellogg American two cylinder
compressor
that ran the cutters for a large newspaper printing press for over 30
years
that has a 3 hp 220VAC motor on it that will run rings around any of
those
"supposed to be" 6 hp new compressors. This one came to me free when the
newspaper decided to install two compressors instead of just the one and
decided to junk this one. My son offered to take it to the dump for them
and
brought it to me instead. It came with a spare rebuilt compressor too.

Good luck with your new one, Ralph. You might be one of the
lucky
ones and never wear it out.
