Ricky:

A JD 630 LP is a bit of a collector tractor which will make it a bit more
expensive. The LP makes it a bit more rare as not as many were made. All of
JD's 30 series are collector favorites because they are the last of the Two
Cylinders. I would suspect a good running, with good tin and tires will run
in the $2,000 to 4,000 region. If tin requires a bunch of work all bets are
off.

The estimated value will be impacted greatly by how it was factory
configured:

1.) Square axle wide front end - add $1200
2.) Complete Three Point Hitch including factory Top Link - add $1200 to
$1400
3.) Dual Power-Trol - add $400; No Power-Trol - Deduct
4.) High Clearance version - 42" rear tires, long axles, long axle housings,
dished rear wheel centers, 16" single front tire - Add $500 to $1,000. Note:
42" tires are $350 to $450 each new
5.) Front single or dual cylinder cultivator bracket - Add $300
6.) Hydraulic Cylinder/hoses and bracket included? - $100 plus
7.) Check that it has live PTO power. Engine driven rather than transmission
driven - add $500
8.) Fenders. Good Deluxe Flat Top with 4 working lights - Add $300
9.) Float Ride Seat in good shape - add $200

Check if Tachometer is working and if shows original hours. Ask owner how
many hours it really has. Low hours 2 to 3000 - Excellent. Over 4,000 hours
more will be worn and require eventual repair.

Check for oil/ water leaks.

Check the Power Steering, drive it and let it steer itself. If it pulls to
either side it may require some expensive work or has excessive play. Check
transmission & reduction gear for excessive noise in all gears. Check clutch
for a good snap on engagement. Check for rod knock or piston slap, LP uses
higher compression pistons.

Hope this helps. A few pictures would be a great help.

Subject: [AT] JD 630 Questions

I am going to look at a JD 630 to use to plant my Milo. It is lpg which
doesn't bother me. What do I need to check on this thing? It is barn kept
and has belonged to the same man since it was new. His son has all the
manuals and cultivating equipment that goes with it. What are these worth
in good shape with good tires? I know nothing about JD's except that it has
a hand clutch. I also intend to pull my jd 8350 grain drill and pull my
auger buggy. Will it perform okay in that use? Let me know what you think.
