My Dodge with the Cummins diesel has an indicator on the air
intake that tells when the filter is dirty enough to change. So far it
has not moved since I got the truck - in maybe 60K miles. I had it
changed out once to be sure but did not see anything in particular that
was dirty on the outside of it.

Lucille thinks the "mechanics" that do oil changes are trying to
earn extra commission money when they tell her that her air filter needs
changing and tells them to use the air hose and blow it clean. I get a
kick out of it because she says that shuts them up.

I use Fram filters when I can find the size for my trucks and
have never had a problem with them.
